St Augustine

These pictures are from our stop in St Augustine on the way home from our Anniversary Cruise. We rode around the city on a trolley car and I took a lot of pictures. We got off the trolley and went into the fortress and I took a lot of pictures there as well. For those who do not know, St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied European city in North America and the city was a Spanish possession for several centuries and the Spanish left their mark on the city in both architecture and culture.

    I know what you mean. I live in Fruit cove about 17 miles from there. We moved to mandarin in 1970 and US1 was a 2 lane road north AND south! Speed limit was 75mph.. Racetrack road was dirt and “Gatorland” was on US1 there. All of these things are gone now but the city is still beautiful and I would’nt want to live anywhere else. I spent 6 yrs in the service and seen quite a bit and NOTHING compares to this city.

    I’ve lived in St.Augustine all my life except for 6 months in Colorado but I don’t remember, I <3 it here I want to live here the rest of my life (as long as it doesn’t change).

    Hey, I was a St. Augustine tourist and I’d do it again! I did become a resident for a year. Gorgeous, historical town next to the ocean. It doesn’t get much better than that around here!
