How to get rid of Bermuda grass in my St. Augustine lawn?

October 9th, 2009 | by admin |

I live in Houston, Texas. I have St. Augustine grass in my front and back yard. But there’re some areas of Bermuda grass growing in the front yard that I would like to get rid of. I did try Weeds Killer but that did not work. Does anybody have any recommendations on how to get rid of the Bermuda grass in my St. Augustine lawn?
Thanks,
Kenny

Both are very aggressive grasses. They were more than likely put there together, because Bermuda is best for drought and Summer and Augustine doesn’t go dormant in winter as much as Bermuda does. You will have to remove your lawn all together to get rid of one or the other.
Personally I would replace with a Texas red clover lawn once I went to that trouble. Looks cool and takes very little water, and you don’t have to mow if you want the red blooms to show.

    Try Acclaim or Fusilade II.
OR just decide that you REALLY wanted a Bermuda grass lawn…
