When Miami’s present court house opened what was it known for?

I know it was called the tallest building South of Baltimore and it was Miami-Dade county’s first high-rise, but is there anything else?

It was considered escape-proof because the inmates were jailed on the highest floors of the old courthouse. A few escaped anyway.
