What exactly is a Florida Cracker, and why do these people have self proclaiming stickers on their trucks?
November 17th, 2009 | by admin |I see A lot of people with Florida Cracker stickers on their pickup trucks(predominantly caucasians). From what I heard white people take offense to being called cracker kind of like the situation with black people and the N word.
Anyway what is a Florida Cracker?
Florida crackers were nicknames for white settlers who arrived in Florida in the 1800s. They got the name because of the cracker barrels from their wagons as they headed south into Florida. They were mostly poor and settled into the rural areas of the state.
It is also an offensive term for a white person and really should not be used. Some people are proud of their Florida heritage, especially those who are 4th or 5th generation and the term is used as an endearment rather than insult.

Yes, a ‘Florida Cracker’ is a white-hick ( mainly from central Florida. )
Yes, blacks often do call each other the "n" word and for some blacks they consider that okay. While other blacks are offended by the term.
Likewise, the term " Cracker" or " Florida Cracker" is also not in good taste, yet some white folks are okay with it and some are not. Just as where some blacks use the ‘n’ word and some don’t. Either way, if a black uses the ‘n’ word to anothe rblack they ‘may’ not be offended as much, but if a white says the ‘n’ word to a black there may very well be problems, and vice versa; if a black called a white a cracker there could be problems, but if a white calls a white a cracker it may not be a problem.
Its all a matter of who is saying it and who is hearing it.
The Florida Crackers who put stickers trumping themselves are just admiting they are proud of being a redneck.
