Bay Meadows Gate: ault On History
July 26th, 2009 | by admin |
Linda Schinkel of Friends of Bay Meadows asked the San Mateo Board of Supervisors to investigate why famed Bay Meadows Race Track was not mentioned in the historical documentary that the County sponsored. The San Mateo Board of Supervisors gave $75,000 of public money to the San Mateo County Historical ociation to produce “Made In America”. A number of County Supervisors participated in the production of the film including Supervisor Jerry Hill. The Supervisors were asked if political “redevelopment pressure” is the reason that Bay Meadows has been subtracted from the San Mateo County historical record? It was suggested that this film should only be shown in the context of an example of how political pressure should not be allowed to rewrite local history.
